Update your apt-get database, using the command below:
Install the required packages using the following commands:
Now, let’s clone the CPU miner program called cpuminer:
Compile and install the cpuminer
Use the following command to start mining litecoin
REMEMBER to replace the e-mail [email protected] for the e-mail account you used to create the minergate account

  1. i did everything you said and it works fine in the terminal but my status in minergate remains
    offline and yes i did change the address and double checked the commands but am still offline, can you help?

  2. Mine it's not able to subscribing to the pool, it says stratum subscribe sending failed. Is there another pool I can try?

    Little bit disapointed with my hashrate compared to others in the pool. 38.35kH/s with 2 ubuntu VMs with respectively 4 and 6 azure vCPUs. I realize that the top users probably have large botnets or legal mining warehouses somewhere where electricity is cheap but still.
    Am I doing something wrong?

    Beginners having problems: prefix the commands with "sudo "
    Also for beginners: prefix the last command with "screen " to launch it in a separate processtree so that the process will not be closed when you close your console/ssh-session. You can go back to that process later by entering "screen -R".
